Uniform Badge Placement

There are many badges that are common to all sections. These are Group, Area, Council, Provice, Country, and World Organization.

Beaver Vest

Beaver Vest badge placement

Beavers are the only section that wear a vest. The location of the common badges are relatively the same as the other sections, but on a vest instead of a shirt. Beaver uniform information page.

Tan Uniform Shirt

Tan Shirt badge placement

The tan uniform shirt is worn by all the other sections and by the leaders. The location of the badges on the shirt is the same for all members and are relative to those on the Beaver vest, but on the sleeves instead of the front of the vest.

For the location of the badges of the Cub sash and Scout sash please look at the Cub uniform page, the Scout uniform page or the section handbook.

Special Awards

ACTION TORONTO Quality Program Award

ImageThe Action Toronto Quality Program Award program has been developed by the GTC to help Section Scouters plan quality programs which achieve and exceed Scouts Canada Program Standards. Any Colony, Pack, Troop, or Company within the Greater Toronto Council may participate in the award program. There are three levels to this award: Bronze, Silver and Gold. A section may apply for any level, though those just starting the program will most likely go for Bronze, groups that are establised go for Silver and groups that want to reach for the top will choose Gold.

All members of the section that has earned the award are presented with the award and are eligable to wear the award for the following year, even if they have moved up to the next section. Beavers wear the award on the left pocket, either pined or sewen below the Beavers Canada Flag strip. All others wear the award hanging from the button of the left pocket. Only one award is worn at a time and the award is only worn for a period of one year.

2007 Emblem

2007 EmblemTo celebrate the 100th anniversary of Scouting, Scouts Canada has issued a 2007 Emblem. The emblem may be worn by all youth and adults regestering in 2006/07 and/or 2007/08. Those members may wear the 2007 emblem as long as they are members of Scouts Canada.

Beavers wear this emblem on the left side of the vest above the pocket.  On the tan shirt the emblem is worn above the Scouts Canada Flag Strip as one of the Authorized Awards/Special Events Emblem. For members who also wear the 1967 Emblem, the 2007 Emblem should be placed beside the 1967 Emblem, on the outside.

Epaulettes, Belts and Woggles

Beavers

Epaulettes and Belts

Beavers do not wear epaulettes. Beavers do not have a uniform belt. They are more then welcome to wear the brown uniform belt that the Beaver leaders wear, but they are not expected to wear a particular belt.

Woggles

Beaver woggleBeavers do use a woggle. It is a special woggle that is Blue with a Beaver sitting on the front. Beavers are not lazy, they have too much energy to be laying around, so to keep the Beaver on your woggle sitting up you have to wear your woggle in a special criss-cross or X fashion, which will also give you your Beaver whiskers. Beaver youth are the only members who are allowed to wear thier neckers in this fashion.

Cubs, Scouts, Venturers, Rovers, and Adults

Epaulettes and Woggles

Epaulettes

Each member who wears a tan shirt wears a set of epaulettes. They are worn on both shoulder. Beaver leader epaulettes come in right and left pairs (the beaver on the epaulette should be looking forward over your shoulder), the other epaulettes are the same on both shoulders. For each section, leaders and youth wear the same epaulettes, however, there are special epaulettes for the youth to recognize Sixers, Seconds, Patrol Leaders and Assistant Patrol Leader (check out the Cub uniform and Scout uniform pages for more information) Adults who are not associated with a youth section wear the Non-Section epaulettes.

Belts

Uniform belt colour is determined by the section to which a member belongs. Beaver leaders wear Brown. Cubs and their leaders wear Yellow. Scouts and their leaders wear Green. Venturers and their advisors wear Light Blue. Rovers and their advisors wear Red. Adult members who are not associated with a youth section wear the Non-Section belt which is Tan.

Woggles

Woggles are the one part of the uniform that does not remain uniform. There are many different woggles being used, but they tend to fall within 4 main types: uniform, commemoative, hand made, and temporary.

The uniform woggle will be the first you will use when joining Scouts for the first time or when advancing to a new section or position. For uniform woggles, each section uses a woggle that is the same colour as thier belt. This woggle is presented to a member when they are invested. Uniform woggles are useful to identify groups, when group unity needs reinforcing or to aid a level of neatness.

Special events tend to be commemorated with a special woggle. Jamborees or other major memorial events tend to be accompanied by a special woggle that can be used in place of or in addition to the uniform woggle.

Hand made woggles are the least uniform of all the woggles. They can be made from just about any material and the more individual the woggle, the better. However, they can be modelled to be colour co-ordinated or symbolically linked with your six, patrol, etc.

Temporary woggles are generally made with 'found materials'. They will reflect the invention and craftyness of the wearer, and display the best scout skills available in the situation.

Adult members who have completed their Woodbadge Part I training recieve a Gilwell Woggle which is a Turk's Head knot.
